This is an antique Ghashghai rug rug woven in SouthWest Persia in the first quarter of the 20th century circa 1910. Its field is decorated with a large crab scaled motif and closed within its central medallion which is surrounded by an array of tribal geometric motifs set on a red-coloured background. The corner medallions follow suit with the same design as the field but are set on a blue-coloured background creating colour contrast. The main border is designed with an alternating coloured tree with blossoming flowers, each flanked by a geometric floral motif. This piece has been woven on an all-wool foundation and made using wool pile and all-natural vegetable dyes.

Condition: Overall Good Condition with some areas of low pile which are consistent with age.
