DETAILS

This is an antique Bidjar woven in NorthWest Persian at the end of the 19th century circa 1880 – 1890. This piece features a blue central medallion decorated with the Herati pattern set on a red open-field background. The corner medallions located within the field follow the design of the central medallion – a Herati design set on the same blue background colour. The outermost border has a black mountain design decorated with blossoming flowers connected by vines set on a beige background creating contrast against the overall darker field. This piece has been woven on an all-wool foundation with wool pile.
