This is an antique Bibibaf rug woven in Northwest Persia at the end of the 19th century circa 1880-1890. This piece features six alternating coloured center medallions set on a blue background field accompanied by an array of geometric tribal animal motifs. The medallions are surrounded by a unique zigzag multicoloured design and located at the top and base of the field are blossoming trees. This piece has a triple border design, and the outermost border is made up of repeating polychrome peacocks. This piece has a highly tribal design with an array of highly saturated natural colours.

This rug is finely hand-knotted in the finest wool on a wool foundation and is available in: 

  • 327 x 175 cm
